Determine the "why"What will students be able to do with devices at home that they weren't able to do with more traditional homework assignments? How can you maximize learning opportunities through the implementation of a Take Home Device program? It is important to take time prior to sending devices home, to work with staff on redefining homework and discuss options for best practices.
Ideas for using iPads at home: * Parent/student portfolio review - engage parents with students to review digital pieces of work and leave a comment. (This ensures that parents are seeing work when paper doesn't come home) * Stride Academy and other adaptive software programs to practice skills * Have students create a recording explaining their understanding of a concept. * Watch a video to prepare for the next day's instruction. Check out EdPuzzle for an enhanced version that includes questions loaded within specific points in the video to enhance engagement. |

Develop and Distribute Take Home Guidelines Packet
Carefully review the Take Home Guidelines Packet and adjust it for your school needs. Track completion of these packets prior to distribution. Keep signed permission slips on file in your Media Center and make a copy for parents to keep at home. Make sure you feel confident that your students have embraced their role as digital citizens prior to sending devices home. |
